How To: Setup ShareX to Automatically Upload & Copy URL

What is ShareX?

ShareX is a free and open source program that lets you capture or record any area of your screen and share it with a single press of a key. It also allows uploading images, text or other types of files to many supported destinations you can choose from.

Setup ShareX to Automatically Upload to Imgur & Copy the URL

Once you have downloaded and installed ShareX, follow these steps:

1. Open ShareX and select Hotkey settings...
   
    
2. When the Hotkey settings window pops up, select Add...
3. Enter & Select the following settings for the task section as follows:
   • Task: Capture region
   • Description: Capture region for Imgur
   • [TICK] Override after capture settings
   • After capture: Save image to file, Upload image to host
   • [TICK] Override after upload settings
   • After upload: Copy URL to clipboard
   • [TICK] Override destinations
   • Destinations: Image Uploader -> Imgur
   • Ignore the other fields (including the one where mine says cPanel)
4. Your task settings should look like this when you're finished.
   
    
5. Close that window, and back at the Hotkey settings window.
6. Click in the box to the right of your newly created hotkey where it says None.
   • Press the key combination you would like to use. I recommend 'Alt + Scroll Lock' - this is so it doesn't interfer with any other hotkeys. But it's your choice.
7. Click the white or red box, so it shows up Green. The final result should look like this.
   
    
8. Test taking a screenshot with your set hotkey. It should prompt you to select the range, then it'll take a screenshot, upload and copy the link for you to paste.
   For evidence and roleplay scenes, the more you capture the better.

(Optional) Register & setup a free Imgur account

This is optional but recommended if you want to manage your images later:

1. Visit https://imgur.com/ and click Sign up.
2. Follow the steps to register a free account.
3. Open ShareX and navigate to Destinations, and select Destination settings...
   
    
4. Select Imgur from the side menu.
5. Change the Account type to User.
6. Click Connect... and follow the steps provided.
7. Test taking a screenshot with your set hotkey. It should automatically take the screenshot, upload and copy the link for you to paste.
8. Visit https://imgur.com/ and view your profile, you should be able to see your previous posts.
